I Can See You

The accident

One late night in December David was driving home for Christmas after a business meeting, he glanced at the clock on the dashboard and noted that it was 1.45 in the morning and he thought to himself I’ve been on the road four five hours and I need to have a rest, David new he was getting tired and thought to himself I think I need to stop at the next service station and have a drink and rest , the weather was pretty horrible and had trouble seeing anything even though the wipers were on and screeching like hell.

David drove about another 20 miles when he noticed a light in the distance and thinking to himself , I do hope this is a service station, and as he got nearer it looked promising and yes it is he thought to himself , He turned into the car park and found a space almost straight away, he pulled into the parking space and switched the engine off .

David sighed under his breath, thank god for that and got out of his car and walked to the entrance and into the station to the counter and ordered himself a sandwich and coffee and sat down, Now David noticed that at the other end of the dinner a very attractive young woman sitting on her own drinking coffee, David got up and went over to her and introduced himself to her, Hi I’m David and she responded with my name is Susan, Im on my way home from a party , David asked if she needed a lift but she replied that she didn’t need one as it was not far now and that she just popped in for a quick drink.

Susan drank her coffee and got up and said good night to David and left the service station to go home, David said good night to her and she left, David drank his coffee and went over to to the counter to get another coffee, The girl at the counter said to him I could not notice that you were talking to Susan, I just worn you she’s from a strange family and i would worn you not to get yourself involved with her, O thanks for the warning but I do not know her I just spoke to her that’s all . She’s quite a handful that’s all, Ok thanks for the tip David said , and went back to his table and sat down and finished his coffee, he then looked at his watch and noticed that it’s 3.53 in the morning and he looked out of the window to find it was raining even more than before. He got up and went over to the counter and asked where the washroom was, the lady at the counter said it’s over there in the corner, thanks said David and he made his way to the washroom and washed his face to refresh himself when happened to look over to the mirror and noticed it had in big red writing “ I CAN SEE YOU “ well he did not know what to make of it but continued to dry his face and then made his way back to his table.

David finished his coffee and sandwich and put his hand into his pocket and retrieved some change and put it on the plate and walked out to his car and got in it and started the engine and drove into the road to continue his journey home, And yes the weather was worse still , David was getting up some speed because it was getting late . It was dismal and visibility was very poor and the roads were very slippery, David looked up at a road sign and once again it said in big writing “ I CAN SEE YOU “ and he thought to himself thats strange and looked down at the radio to put a cd in to it fumbling to pick it up from the cd tray when he looked up and all of a sudden there was something in front of him and a big bang as he hit it , He slammed the brakes on and stopped, he looked into the rear view mirror but couldn’t see anything it was too dark so he opened the door and looked back but still couldn’t see anything.

David got out of the car and walked along the road a bit and could see a shadow on the road, It looked like a young person laying in the road, O my god he thought to himself as he got closer, It’s It’s the young girl he met at the service station and her body was all twisted and it looked really bad, David knelt down and had a better look at her and checked for signs of life, but she was dead, David started to panic and thought if he reported the accident he would be in jail over Christmas or worse still end up in prison for years if things went wrong.

David had to think quickly and ran back to the car and jumped in and reverse back to the body, he got out of the car and opened the boot, he new he would have to work quickly before anyone passed them and may see something suspicious so he picked her up and carefully put her in the boot and closed it, David jumped into the car and drove off, he also had to do something because of what the girl was saying at the service station and it would seem that they are not nice people in the first place with out killing their daughter, he had all sorts of things going on in his head but he decided to drive off the main road into the woods so he turned right at the next side road and he went deeper and deeper into the woods and it was pouring down with rain, David came to a stop deep in the woods.

David sat in the car thinking what he was going to do for a while but realised he would have to wait until the morning as it was dark really dark , The next day David realised he had fallen asleep ,David had woke up and was trying to work out what he was going to do, he decided that he would have to hide her body some how , but he’s not got any tools to dig a hole for her with, he figured that he was deep enough in the woods that he could hide her body under the large tree trunk laying just in front of him and cover body with the branches and bushes that were laying around,So David got out of the car and opened the trunk and removed the body from his truck and carefully pushed the body under the tree trunk and covered it with branches and peace’s of bushes and when he finished he stood back looking at his work and decided that that would have to do.

David got back into the car and turned around and left the grave and drove back down the lane through the woods for about 2 miles and about 50 yards from the main road there was another sign and in big writing said ones again “ I CAN SEE YOU “ this was becoming a concerning thing now because he didn’t know what it meant but however he continued to the main road and turned right to continue his journey home for Christmas, he continued his journey for several hours and began to calm down and hoped the body would not be found, as he was driving in the distance he could see a lorry coming towards him when suddenly the could hear a voice behind his saying I CAN SEE YOU and with fright he looked in the rearview mirror and there was the frightening image behind of the girl she lent forwards and cover his eyes locking her fingers together, David slammed his brakes on .
